It may seem silly or a little “crystal ball chakra feather dream catcher” like, but if you think about it, breathing is kind of important. Try not doing it for 5 minutes. So working on doing it right, is like giving your car a service, or cleaning your computer. It just runs better.

So here’s the trick:

  • Breathe in slowly through your nose for 4 seconds.
  • Hold your breath for 4 seconds.
  • Breathe out through your mouth for 4 seconds.
  • Repeat at least 4 times.

Easy, and it’s easy to remember, it’s called the 4-4-4 method. And if you want to turn pro, you can try the 4-7-8 method. Same method, just longer.

Dr Andrew Weil says it works for reducing anxiety, helping a person get to sleep, managing cravings and controlling or reducing anger responses. And he’s a doctor, sooooo…..

Just for backup though, you could keep a Zen Master on you.
